Resumen

Introducción: La infancia temprana es un periodo crucial en el desarrollo de la salud mental. Por ello, es importante contar con herramientas eficaces para detectar tempranamente las conductas infantiles relacionadas con psicopatología. Objetivo: El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la validez de la Escala de Evaluación Socioemocional Breve de Infantes y Niños (BITSEA) en una muestra chilena. Método: Se utilizó una muestra de 289 niños y niñas preescolares de entre 12 y 35 meses de edad con 30 días. Resultados: Se obtuvo una confiabilidad aceptable para la subescala "problemas socioemocionales" (α=0.84) y una confiabilidad media para la subescala "competencia" (α=0.58). La estructura factorial fue adecuada y la validez concurrente con otras escalas fue alta. El AFC muestra índices de ajuste del modelo aceptables (SRMR=0.07; RMSEA=0.05). Conclusión: La BITSEA arrojó resultados similares a otros estudios en cuanto a confiabilidad y su aplicabilidad en contextos educativos y de salud preescolar es prometedora para la detección temprana de problemas socioemocionales. Se sugiere continuar su estudio en muestra nacional representativa.
